FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

With the Euro Hatch range do I get the car I choose?

Yes if it is available. Your choice is first preferred, if it is booked at the time of your booking you will receive one of the other European Hatches in the same category.

Do you hold a bond?

Yes, we hold your chosen excess or deductible amount plus $100 on your credit card for security purposes. It is released upon completion of your car hire.

Do I need a valid international drivers license to rent a car in NZ

Yes, In New Zealand you need either a valid New Zealand or an Australian full drivers license or a valid overseas drivers license, along with an International Driving Permit or an official English translation if your license isn’t in English to hire a rental car.

Can I collect my rental car outside business hours?

Yes. We will arrange to have you met off your flight and taken around to our agent who will have your car ready for you for an after hours call out fee or we can deliver your chosen rental car to your hotel or guest house within the Christchurch City and airport areas the following morning as a complimentary service to you.

Do you have a service for repeat business customers?

Yes we prepare a master rental agreement with you so there is no need to wait. We meet you from off your flight in your chosen rental car with your completed rental agreement and tax receipt. Upon return we email through completed rental agreement.

Can I phone you during my rental and ask for suggestions of what to do to get the most out of our journey?

Yes, Euro Self Drive Tours is a complimentary service where you have our 0800 free calling number and we delight in booking attractions and accommodation for all our rental car customers should you wish to change plans or book as you go or even to have a chat during your rental journey with Euro.

What happens in the event of a breakdown or accident

We have relationships with many garages and the AA throughout New Zealand. It doesn’t often happen but accidents do occur. We will get you going again as quickly as possible.

Is there extra insurance I can take out for personal accidents?

In New Zealand we have a government scheme called Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) that covers for your body for all visitors to our country in the event of an accident. It is not always a full cover so we strongly recommend taking out travel insurance incase it is needed.

Does our rental car come with a full tank of petrol

Yes absolutely. All our rental cars are hired full of petrol and so its best to return it full ready for the next person. Full means over the full line. We have a surcharge for the time to take it to a garage to fill it up.

What happens if I damage my rental car?

Upon return please tell our service staff. Your chosen held bond will be processed in full. Once the repair process is completed if the damage cost is less than your chosen excess amount we refund the difference to your credit card in full. You are charged the cost of repair plus a surcharge.
